"Fragments": Pierre Charpin signed the new entry by Piemme

«FRAGMENTS comes from a really graphical inspiration», Pierre Charpin explains, telling the genesis of the surfaces’ line designed by Ceramiche Piemme. «I wanted something not static, which could represent the movement. The patterns are abstract in the sense that the forms themselves evoke the forms. Their combination creates a pictorial effect, although gray colors were chosen instead of brighter ones, as perhaps you might expect from me».

Presented during the Milan Fuorisalone, in the spaces of the Falegnameria Cavalleroni set up by Gordon Guillaumier, the new ceramic collection for floor and wall absorbs the flair of the French designer - also reported by Maison&Objet as “Designer of the Year 2017” - by reinterpreting the iconic shape of small footprints, a subject borrowed from his artistic repertoire.

It is just for his “poetic inclination” that the company from Modena chose Charpin: «Ours is a sector that is being completely rethought» Massimo Barbari by AD Ceramiche Piemme claims. «The new technologies allow a freedom of expression never reached before and we need to deal with designers who can think of the ceramic product in a totally different way».

Moreover, Fragments relaunches the design decomposition and recomposition of different materials for the same surfaces, characterized by the bright and continuous effect of the resin, the decorative one of the wood and the use of tiles for walls.

There are two decorations available  -  Form and Oblong - on tiles ranging from the 30x60 format to the 120x120cm one, in 4 natural shades: from the light one Milk to the darkest one Charcoal (dark gray), passing through the gray Cloud and the warmer Tan. The additional shades, Fern and Ocean, cover the proposal for walls evoking the composition of tiles, in the classic 7.5x30cm format.

The three-dimensional finishes are instead three - Dune, Paint e Hatch - and emphasize the textured appeal of the collection.
